Privacy policy

MyCoffee is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains exactly what we collect, why, and how it's kept safe — no hidden data deals, ever.

1. Introduction

MyCoffee ("we", "our", "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and safeguard your information when you use the MyCoffee mobile application ("App").

Please read this policy carefully. By using the App you consent to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information — username, full name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account.
  • Posts and content — photos, captions, drink names, ratings, and café tags you share.
  • Reactions — selfie photos taken when reacting to posts.
  • Messages and reports — content you submit when reporting other users.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Location data — your approximate location when you use the Discover map, used solely to find nearby coffee shops. We do not store your location history.
  • Device information — device type, operating system version, and bundle identifier for diagnostic purposes.
  • Push notification token — a device token used to deliver push notifications. Stored securely and never shared.
  • Usage data — number of café views per day, used to enforce free tier limits.

2.3 Information from third parties

  • Apple Sign In — if you sign in with Apple, we receive a unique identifier and optionally your name and email.
  • Google Sign In — if you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account name, email, and profile photo.
  • Apple App Store — if you subscribe to MyCoffee PRO, Apple processes your payment and notifies us of your subscription status via RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your payment card details.

3. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Display your profile, posts, and activity to other users.
  • Show you nearby coffee shops on the Discover map.
  • Send push notifications about likes, reactions, comments, and follows (you can disable these in Settings).
  • Process and verify your PRO subscription status.
  • Enforce usage limits for free tier accounts.
  • Investigate and act on reports of content that violates our Terms of Service.
  • Improve the App and fix bugs.

We do not:

  • ✕Sell your personal data to third parties.
  • ✕Use your data for advertising purposes.
  • ✕Share your location with third parties.
  • ✕Store your payment information.

4. How we share your information

4.1 Public information

The following is visible to all users of the App:

  • Your username and profile photo.
  • Posts you share, including photos, captions, and café tags.
  • Your followers and following count.
  • Café visits shown on your passport.

4.2 Service providers

We share limited data with the following trusted providers who process it on our behalf:

4.3 Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

4.4 Business transfer

If MyCoffee is acquired or merged, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.

5. Data retention

  • Account data — retained while your account is active.
  • Posts and photos — retained until you delete them or your account.
  • Reaction photos — retained until you delete your reaction or account.
  • Notification history — retained for 90 days.
  • API usage logs — retained for 30 days.
  • Deleted accounts — all personal data permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion.

6. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Correction — update or correct inaccurate information via your profile settings.
  • Deletion — delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account.
  • Portability — request your data in a portable format.
  • Objection — object to certain types of processing.
  • Withdraw consent — disable push notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications.

7. Children's privacy

MyCoffee is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

The App is rated 12+ on the App Store. Users between 13 and 17 should have parental consent before using the App.

8. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption.
  • Row-level security on our database — users can only access their own data.
  • Push tokens stored securely and never exposed to other users.
  • Service keys never included in the app binary.
  • Regular security audits.

Despite these measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International data transfers

Your data is stored on servers in the European Union (London, UK) via Supabase. If you access the App from outside the EU, your data may be transferred internationally. By using the App, you consent to this transfer.

10. Push notifications

We send push notifications for:

  • Likes on your posts.
  • Reactions to your posts.
  • Comments on your posts.
  • New followers.

You can disable all push notifications at any time in Settings → Notifications within the App, or via iPhone Settings → Notifications → MyCoffee.

11. Location data

We request location permission to show you nearby coffee shops on the Discover map. We use your location only in the moment you open Discover — we do not track, store, or share your location history. You can revoke location permission at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy → Location Services → MyCoffee.

12. Third-party links

The App may contain links to third-party websites (café websites, social profiles). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, sending a push notification. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
